Evaluation: Corporate Video Production

Evaluation: Corporate Video Production

The school gave my class the task of making a 90-second video clip showing off each subject area whether that’s “Extra Lessons, Support subjects” and what was given to me and my partner was talking about T-Levels. These videos were going on the college website, so they had to look as professional as possible.

What was your specific, allocated, role

When it came to filming me, I was given the role of managing the audio levels with the boom microphone and controlling the camera used to film the side shots during the interviews on teachers. When we were filming the interview, I also read out the questions for the teachers to answer. For my partner, she had to film the straight-on shot of the teacher. During the editing process, I and my partner decided to make our own cuts which turned out mine was longer (around 2 minutes long) and my partners being around 60 seconds.

What did you have to do

We had to explain what T-Levels are and if you should choose them in a 90-second video. This is much harder than what the other students were given as T-Levels just came out a year or 2 ago so it must be as insightful as possible.

What was your favorite aspect of the task

My favorite aspect of the task was editing the college video. I’ve always taken an enjoyment when it came to editing videos as you can turn an average video into an engaging piece of content just adding a few sound effects, some music, etc.

What was the most challenging aspect of the task

The most challenging aspect is filming the interviews. The reason for that is it became very stressful near the end of filming due to tight teacher schedules where we must go out of other lessons or stay during the break to film and making sure all the equipment is ready for the next time, we film the video. Also having to set up the equipment making sure the audio levels are good, etc.

What do you feel you took from the project

I feel like I have gotten more experience with the whole process of filming, using the equipment from using the correct settings to adjusting the audio levels to make it sound as professional as possible. I also learnt some more skills from editing the college interview as I have never edited a video like that before.

What would you change if you were able to undertake the task again

If I have given the same task to undergo, I would make ourselves more organized as a lot of the time we did not know what to do so we had to ask the teacher for help or one of us would be doing a lot of the work in one area and then the other will do a lot of the work on the other tasks.
