Primary research

Survey - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RMJW95L

Survey analysis - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/umma/?1621351986855

This questionnaire was for our corporate video unit, the reason we created a survey is that it helps us the people creating the video get a better understanding of who watched our video and to get a wider audience watching it outside the College department e.g. friends and family. It lets us see what we need to improve on and what was good about the video. It's also a very good example of primary research where I'm the one creating the questions and getting the answers instead of going on the internet and researching it. We got a total of 15 people that we chose to answer the questionnaire which meant we could keep it in a controlled environment where they are serious about the survey. We fitted a mixer of qualitive and quantitative question and this was done by having multiple choice questions and some text boxed questions where the person doing the survey can write out anything freely about the question.

Secondary research

About Unilever - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/teln/

For our secondary research, it was for our advertising unit which we conducted because we had to redesign an already existing Unilever product for a different audience. Gaining an understanding of the company allowed us to make an advert that was filled their brands identity however change it enough that it targets a different target audience. This is a prime example of secondary research as all the information has been gathered by other sources, with the main source being the Unilever website. I used the official site because it's the closest you can get to an accurate statement as it's from them.

Magnum rebranding - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/aqph/

After we researched who Unilever, we then rebranded them and presented them by pitching them to the classroom, using the research to help support our ideas. It is another example of secondary research as I had to find pre-existing information about Unilever and Magnum (ice cream brand). Using all the information from Unilever and Magnum website which is highly accurate and trustworthy as they published it. I used this research to back up my Magnum rebrand pitch. I reworked the logo, age group and advertisements.

Corporate Video Analysis Chart - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/acig/

Secondary research such as corporate video analysis research helped me understand how to create such a video, from the narrative, sound used, editing techniques, and cinematography. It let me research everything I needed to create my own corporate video without it looking unprofessional. I used three different videos to gather even more data from each video where I wrote small paragraphs about each topic listed.

Pre-production paperwork - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/kqmv/

This is my pre-production paperwork that was conducted for the corporate video unit in order for us to establish which areas we needed to use, plan our shooting schedule, and gain permission to feature certain personas and places in our corporate video. The paperwork helped us with our T-Level video as we gathered important information for example getting the locations we wanted and getting permission to shoot there, a shot list to help us stay on schedule so we don't miss out on the deadline, and a lot more.

Quantitative research

Survey analysis - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/umma/?1621351986855

This research was created to gather data about my T-Level video for my college in East Norfolk. It is a good example for quantitative research as I  included closed questions, which collect quantitative data. I displayed it on a pie chart for each question as it's numerical and also allows me to get an easier understanding of everyone's opinion on each question is.

This research was gathered for the corporate video unit and utilised to better understand the perspective of individuals who viewed our film. It is a perfect example of quantitative research that I compiled from the replies to the T-Level college video. The popularity of each answer in multiple-choice questions is depicted by these pie charts.

Qualitative research

This research was also carried out for the corporate video unit, however, the comments I gathered were from when we all come together in the classroom to share our videos made for East Norfolk College. After each video, we all gave the person video one improvement to make in written form, this is a perfect example of qualitative data because they provide non-numerical data. I was able to utilise this data to improve my college video and get a better understanding of what was wrong in the video.

Market & audience research

For market and audience research is chose an old rebranding project I had to undergo last year in college. This research was done for the promotional unit so that I could more about both Unilever and the Magnum ice cream brand. I looked closely at their target markets, the promotional videos they created, and the aesthetic of the brand from the logo to the color scheme. It's an excellent example of consumer testing because I collected details about the audience who usually watches Magnum commercials so that I could define my own with my rebranding concept. I then applied all the knowledge I learnt and it helped me understand the target market and change it to a younger audience.

Production research

Pre-production paperwork - https://online.fliphtml5.com/diioa/kqmv/

My pre-production research was carried out for the corporate video unit in order for us to determine which sites we needed to use, prepare our shooting schedule, and obtain permission to include certain individuals and locations in our video. This paperwork is an excellent example of production research because it helps produce a video that suits everyone's standards within the college and as students, this is because it has been planned carefully asking the right people within the college, taking surveys, and getting feedback. We devised a production schedule so that we know where we were going to record specific sections of the footage. We have completed a risk assessment so that we were mindful of any possible hazards to help avoid them. We also filled out a location/talent release so we can have permission to feature the people or place getting filmed on video without any problems. We finally made a recce to scout the locations we wanted to use to film at.
